Diversity and Inclusion Training: IDEA Essentials 1.0

Diversity and Inclusion Training

In partnership with CCDI Consulting, we are proud to be once again offering IDEA Essentials for businesses in the Greater Vancouver area looking for an introduction or refresher on principals of equity, diversity, and inclusion.

IDEA Essentials is delivered online and incorporates presentations, polling, as well as small and large group discussions. During the three sessions, participants have an opportunity to explore their own dimensions of diversity and discover the benefits of creating an Inclusive, Diverse, Equitable and Accessible (IDEA) workplace.

The program is 6 hours total and is offered in two-hour blocks over three days.

Participants must attend all three sessions to obtain a certificate from CCDI.

SESSION 1 — October 16

Diversity and Inclusion Fundamentals

This session provides participants with a robust, shared understanding of what we talk about when we refer to diversity and inclusion, and why diversity and inclusion are keys to the success of organizations as well as individuals.

SESSION 2 — October 17

Introduction to Unconscious Bias

This session tackles one of the most pervasive barriers to inclusion in the workplace: conscious and unconscious bias. We explore the sources and mechanics of bias, its impact and cyclicality. We then provide participants with strategies to increase awareness and mitigate the impact of bias in the workplace.

SESSION 3 — October 18

Respect in the Workplace

This session offers guidelines to establish respectful workplaces. We build a shared knowledge on how to identify what respect looks like in the workplace, and how to address manifestations of disrespect.
