Member Code of Conduct
As a corporate/individual member of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade (GVBOT), I/we recognize that membership is a privilege and that it comes with responsibility.
Accordingly, I/we shall undertake that
- Member(s) and their guests shall, at all times, abide by municipal, provincial, and federal laws while attending any GVBOT event.
- At all times, Members shall treat other members, guests, staff and management with courtesy and respect.
- The GVBOT operates on a strict anti-harassment policy. No member should exhibit or condone actions or comments that are prejudicial to any person’s race, creed, colour, sex, sexual orientation, religion, or any other similar criteria.
- Conduct business and professional activities in a reputable manner so as to reflect honourably upon Greater Vancouver’s business community.
- Observe the highest standards of ethics in rendering services and/or offering products for sale, based on the member’s own knowledge and experience.
- Respect the reputation, profile, and status of the GVBOT and represent the Board of Trade accordingly.
Membership in the Board of Trade shall be terminated, and the rights and privileges of membership cancelled and forfeited in the following events:
The Greater Vancouver Board of Trade (GVBOT), Board of Directors has the authority to suspend or expel members from the GVBOT for violating the Code of Conduct in any way, or for conduct that reflects badly on or could be detrimental to the GVBOT as determined by the Board of Directors. The GVBOT Board of Directors has sole and absolute discretion in upholding this Code of Conduct and in its decisions with regard to terminating or suspending membership.
In the event that the GVBOT Board of Directors determines a member should be expelled or suspended from membership, the President & CEO (or other designated Officer), will provide twenty (20)days notice of suspension or expulsion to the member with reasons for the proposed suspension or expulsion. The member may submit a response or rebuttal in writing to the President & CEO or Board of Directors within twenty (20) days of receiving the notification. If no written submission is received, the Board of Trade may notify the member of suspension or expulsion from membership. If a written submission is received within the specified time frame, the Board of Directors will consider the response before making a final decision. The member will be notified of the decision within twenty (20) days from receipt of the submission. The Board of Directors’ decision will be final and binding on the member.
