Unlearning Gender Roles, Biases, and Stereotypes

Both men and women should feel free to be sensitive. Both men and women should feel free to be strong…it is time that we all perceive gender on a spectrum not as two opposing sets of ideas.

The Greater Vancouver Board of Trade’s Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Council (DLC) is proud to invite you to a special event to kickstart National Gender Equality Week.

Gender equality is achieved when all genders have equal rights, responsibilities, and opportunities. As described by UN Women, equality does not mean that women and men will become the same, but that their rights and roles in society do not depend on whether they were born male or female.

Join our panel of experts as they share best practices on how to effectively and actively unlearn negative gender stereotypes. Implementing these practices will ensure our places of work allow everyone to feel respected and comfortable to be their true authentic selves.

This session will:

  • Celebrate the start of National Gender Equality Week
  • Explain the history of gender roles and the causes of inequity on the gender spectrum
  • Discuss the biases people have related to gender in the workplace
  • Empower employers to create workplaces that are free of stereotypes
