GVBOT applauds City of Vancouver’s Efforts to Support Local Businesses

VANCOUVER, B.C. —The Greater Vancouver Board of Trade’s President and CEO, Bridgitte Anderson, made the following statement regarding the City of Vancouver’s “Choose Canada, Tariffs and Buy Local Imperative” motion:
“We are pleased to see Vancouver City Council supporting a host of measures and strategies that will support and strengthen our economy.
“The best thing the City can do is act within its powers to make it easier to set up and run a business. By speeding up permitting, reducing red tape, controlling costs, taxes, and fees, and continuing to support public safety, we will see meaningful benefits for our community.
“We applaud the City for adopting our 3% Challenge, which calls on governments to align their policies towards supporting economic growth and a vibrant business community. Sustained economic growth raises incomes, creates opportunities, and drives innovation. It is the only path to greater financial security, improved affordability, and a brighter future for Vancouverites.
“We look forward to continuing to work with all levels of government on a Team Canada approach for the threatened tariffs, and we thank Vancouver City Councillors for their action today.”
