Charting the Course: A Resilient and Sustainable Ferry System for the Future

Join CEO and President Nicolas Jimenez as he outlines BC Ferries' vision for a reliable, climate-resilient ferry system. This vision balances the organization's role as an essential public service, meeting the immediate needs of passengers while preparing for the future demands of a fast-growing British Columbia – all within a framework of affordability and financial sustainability.

Operating within a regulatory environment that includes oversight from the Ferry Commissioner as well as collaboration with government partners, and direct feedback from passengers and the communities that rely on its service, BC Ferries is focused on renewing its aging fleet and infrastructure to meet increasing demand. Nicolas will speak to how BC Ferries is moving to more closely align its vision with the aspirations and expectations of its customers and the communities it serves. This strategy prioritizes increasing capacity, transitioning to a more carbon-friendly fleet, enhancing service reliability, hearing more directly from communities and integrating with broader coastal transit networks.

By addressing the needs of a growing population, managing financial sustainability, and embracing environmental stewardship, BC Ferries is committed to adapting to future challenges while continuing to connect communities and customers to the people and places important in their lives.
