Energy Forum presented by Suncor Energy
Enabling Your Economy
British Columbia's natural gas and oil supplies have served as an economic enabler for the better part of a century. They fuel our economy — delivering revenues to government that support social programs upon which we rely. They power our ports, our homes, and our ability to move tourists around the globe, and throughout our province, to view British Columbia's unique, remarkable beauty.
They will, together with each and every other energy source, fuel our future. Natural gas and oil will protect and create jobs, find innovative ways to increase efficiency and reduce impact, and bring communities together to create meaningful, made-in-B.C. businesses and economic benefits.

SESSION 1:
Energy Infrastructure: An engine for collaboration and growth
The development of energy industry infrastructure has proven exceptional in its ability to positively impact the development of our province. From north to south and east to west, the energy sector has helped build bustling economic centres, and transformed local economies throughout western Canada and across our country. Our energy infrastructure is vital in ensuring our products reach global markets, but also benefits our communities by building other forms of infrastructure upon which we all rely, including schools, roads, hospitals and bridges. Please join us for this panel discussion on the important relationship between our energy infrastructure and the creation of local, regional and national benefits.

SESSION 2:
Marine Shipping: Safe and sustainable practices for the B.C. coast
As the opportunities expand for energy development along the B.C. coast, so does the focus on ensuring that the shipping of energy products is conducted in a safe and sustainable manner. Both federal and provincial government reports have identified gaps in the current marine safety regime and the public have made clear that marine shipping practices must protect the ocean environment and reduce impact on marine mammals. This panel will highlight the areas where science, innovation and technology, along with community engagement and policy makers are working together to meet the challenge.

Natural Gas: Fuelling our past, present and future
The natural gas industry in British Columba has long been touted as the key to the future economic prosperity of the province. With an estimated reserve of 2,933 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, the resource has the potential to drive jobs, growth, and rural development for decades to come. However, with the collapse in commodity prices and the possible slowing of Asian demand, the future of this economic engine has become unclear. Join us for this panel discussion on the present state of the natural gas market in British Columbia, its potential impact, and the directions in which it may be headed.

SESSION 4:
Canada's changing energy landscape
It is no secret that the energy industry is vital to the health of the Canadian economy. However, just over the past year, falling crude prices have wreaked havoc on the Canadian dollar and sent the economy into a recession. Such fluctuations have been long thought of as the inevitable consequences of a boom-bust energy sector. However, changing global dynamics brought on by the U.S oil boom, fragmentation of OPEC supply controls, and the threat of climate change, have led many to think that the industry is operating within a "new normal." It is clear that the landscape of the energy market is transforming, and that the industry must adapt if it is to take advantage of these changes. Join us for this panel discussion on the current state of Canadian energy, the changes taking place at home and abroad, and what a strong energy sector of the future may look like.
