Virtual Food Drive and Food Sorting with the Greater Vancouver Food Bank

The Company of Young Professionals (CYP) is proud to host our first CYP Virtual Food Drive to amplify our in-person volunteer efforts in support of the Greater Vancouver Food Bank (GVFB).

The GVFB was set up as a temporary relief to the hunger crisis in 1983 and has grown significantly in the three decades since then. Pre COVID-19, they provided assistance to approximately 8,500 people and 80+ Community Agency Partners weekly. The need is even greater now and their efforts are focused on operating sustainably to ensure they continue to get healthy food to those in need.

For every dollar raised, the Food Bank can double your donation, purchasing local, fresh and healthy food because of their buying power and strong relationships with farmers and retailers. Get involved

Join the CYP Outreach team for a group food sort at the Greater Vancouver Food Bank warehouse in Burnaby. Group food sorting is an important behind the scenes role that helps ensure the food donations our clients receive are of good quality, sorted appropriately and organized for delivery to the different locations.

Volunteer and connect with other CYP Members who are passionate about giving back to a good cause while learning more about this valuable organization playing a crucial role in our community.

Important information:

  • You are required to follow COVID-19- safety guidelines, including physical distancing.
  • Masks, gloves and hand sanitizer will be provided
  • Volunteers working in the warehouse must wear closed-toe, comfortable flat shoes. You will not be able to work a shift with your group if you are wearing inappropriate footwear.
  • Please note there are a limited number of volunteer spots available due to COVID-19 safety protocols
