VANCOUVER, B.C. — The Greater Vancouver Board of Trade is excited to announce that the Honourable Rachel Notley, Premier of Alberta, will deliver the keynote address at its 2017 Energy Forum on Nov. 30.

Premier Notley’s speech will mark her first official address in British Columbia since the swearing in of the current provincial government, and will reflect the theme of this year’s forum, which is Accessing New Markets: Navigating the Way Forward.

“We are thrilled to confirm that Premier Notley will speak to members of the business community later this month about the future of Canada’s energy sector,” said Iain Black, President and CEO of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade. “Responsible energy development is one of the key drivers of our national economy. As the industry undergoes changes across the globe, now more than ever, it is crucial for Canadian provinces to band together and work to get Canada’s energy products to global markets.”

Canada's energy sector is undergoing a major transformation. In addition to fluctuating prices, the industry faces evolving policies on Indigenous consultation and environmental assessment, a changing federal and provincial policy landscape, and technological advancements.

The 2017 Energy Forum will bring together a diverse range of industry experts, policy-makers, and the business community for a dialogue on the importance of responsible energy development and its role in supporting a robust, economically sound, and sustainable B.C. economy.
