GVBOT responds to new orders under the Emergency Program Act

November 20, 2021

November 19, 2021, VANCOUVER, B.C. —  Bridgitte Anderson, President and CEO of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade, made the following statement.

“The events of the past few days have been incredibly challenging for our province. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those affected.

The BC Government’s announcement to limit fuel purchases for non-essential purposes and restrict travel on some routes is necessary and we support these actions. However, we do recognize that it could impact many businesses. These are temporary measures and we urge people to remain calm and support front-line and essential workers, just like we did at the beginning of the pandemic.

We are confident that all levels of government, together with industry, are doing everything within their power to secure additional resources as well as supporting the efforts to get the Trans Mountain pipeline back into service.

We need to work together to ensure necessary supplies are delivered and work can continue to reopen our major arteries that connect our province.  We can all do our part - work from home, walk, carpool, ride a bike, or take transit.

Be kind to front-line workers as they implement these emergency measures.

We believe in the people of British Columbia. We have faith that the people working day and night to reopen and rebuild our infrastructure are doing everything possible and that they will get the job done. We will get through this together.”
