GVBOT responds to Canada-USA Trade Negotiations

VANCOUVER, B.C. — Bridgitte Anderson, President and CEO of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade, released the following statement on the state of Canada-USA trade negotiations:
We are encouraged to see Canada and the United States engaging in trade negotiations in earnest and welcome the extension of the deadline for additional tariffs that would have been harmful to British Columbia’s economy.
For businesses, workers, and communities on both sides of the border, a fair, stable, and predictable trading relationship is critical to economic growth, investment certainty and affordability.
We are thankful for Minister LeBlanc's and the Prime Minister's efforts to work with their American counterparts to reach an agreement that provides greater certainty for businesses and strengthens North American competitiveness.
At the same time, it is clear that we need to build a stronger and more competitive Canadian economy. We urge politicians at all levels of government to work with the business community and workers to meet this moment.
