Remembering Peter Legge

The Greater Vancouver Board of Trade is deeply saddened by the passing of Peter Legge.
Peter served on GVBOT's board of directors and became chair of the board in 2002-03. He founded Canada Wide Media, the parent company of BCBusiness, Vancouver Magazine, and Western Living. Together, these publications have helped shape the story of Vancouver’s business community, celebrating rising talent, honouring titans of the trade, and shining a light on the challenges and opportunities we face.
We remember Peter for his lifelong dedication to serving others. He spent more than three decades serving as co-host of the Variety Club Telethon - Children's Charity, helping raise more than $150 million. His generosity and commitment to community service were honoured with the Nido Qubein Philanthropist of the Year Award, the Order of the Red Cross, the Variety Club of B.C. Gold Heart Award, the Silver Jubilee Medal from the Royal Life Saving Society, and the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal.
In 2008, Peter was inducted into the Order of British Columbia, the province's highest honour.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations in Peter’s memory to the Alzheimer Society of BC and Yukon or Crossroads Hospice Society in Port Moody.
On behalf of the Greater Vancouver business community, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Peter's family and friends.
