GVBOT brings B.C. priorities to Ottawa

The Greater Vancouver Board of Trade brought B.C. priorities to Ottawa this spring by convening a group of GVBOT members on Parliament Hill, showcasing our region's ability to support Canada's national economic prosperity.
We participated in important discussions with federal elected officials, senior public servants, and key stakeholders, including Minister Gregor Robertson, Secretary of State Stephen Fuhr, and MP Taleeb Noormohamed.
During these meetings, we advocated for the role B.C. can play in federal defence and innovation work and doubling non-U.S. trade by 2035. These are priorities that aligned with our attending members.
We were also on Parliament Hill for the introduction of the Spring Economic Update and subsequently discussed B.C.’s role in nation-building and economic growth.
While we can feel far from Ottawa, it is clear that B.C. businesses have what it takes to deliver in this important economic moment. From skilled trades to innovators and operators on the front lines, B.C. workers are driving solutions that strengthen supply chains, create good jobs, and build long-term economic security.
B.C. is ready to be the gateway to doubling non-U.S. trade and greater economic security through innovation. We look forward to continuing our advocacy work in these areas and growing the our province's brand in Ottawa.
We thank the B.C. representatives serving in Ottawa who took the time to connect, and to our delegates for representing our province's business community.
