Greater Vancouver Board of Trade is pleased to be hosting the fifth annual Business Distinction Awards. These awards recognize small and medium-sized businesses that have gone above and beyond to set themselves apart in the Greater Vancouver region in a variety of areas, including sustainability, growth, leadership and more.

Nominations were collected during the spring and reviewed and shortlisted by the Scale-up Centre for SMEs Advisory Committee which is comprised of GVBOT members from a myriad of sectors and industries, representing the diversity of the Greater Vancouver business community..

This year we are pleased to launch the inaugural Member of the Year award which recognizes a member that has made outstanding contributions through volunteering, mentoring, speaking or participation on committees that meaningfully supports GVBOT’s Purpose and Vision, and has acted as an ambassador and advocate for the organization. The recipient is voted for by the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade staff.

2026 Member of the Year is Solomon Wong

As our inaugural Member of the Year, Solomon has made significant contributions to the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade through more than two decades of leadership, service, and advocacy. A leading voice in Canada's aviation industry, he has helped advance innovations that transformed the travel experience, from trusted traveller programs to streamlined security and border processes. He served for many years as Chair of our Regional Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and continues to support the growth of World Trade Centre Vancouver programming. Through his active participation, steadfast commitment, and enthusiastic promotion of the Board of Trade's work, Solomon has become a trusted leader and outstanding ambassador for our business community.

The Scale-up Centre for SMEs (SCS) is an initiative of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade. The SCS works to understand the trends, forces, and issues impacting SME growth, innovation, and competitiveness and develops programming and policy to address these issues. Based on the goals of helping companies to discover gaps, engage with experts, and create solutions to address obstacles to growth, the SCS connects, educates, and inspires SMEs in British Columbia.

Solomon Wong is President & Chief Executive Officer of InterVISTAS Consulting, a global advisory firm specializing in transportation, aviation, mobility, trade, and infrastructure. He is widely recognized as a multidisciplinary expert in transportation policy, passenger and cargo facilitation, infrastructure planning, innovation, and regulatory transformation, with decades of experience advising both public- and private-sector organizations on the movement of people and goods.

Throughout his career, Solomon has led and supported major transportation and infrastructure initiatives across North America and internationally. His advisory work has included the development of business cases and strategic analyses for trusted traveller programs, border modernization, aviation security process improvements, airport facilitation technologies, baggage and passenger-flow optimization, and next-generation transportation solutions. His work has informed planning, policy development, and operational improvements for airports, transportation agencies, governments, and industry stakeholders.

A respected voice within the transportation sector, Solomon has held leadership roles with numerous industry organizations, including serving on the Board of Airports Council International North America and the Airports Consultants Council.
Solomon has also made significant contributions to the business and policy community through his involvement with the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade (GVBOT). He served as Co-Chair of the Regional Transportation & Infrastructure Policy Committee, where he helped convene industry leaders, facilitate dialogue on critical transportation and infrastructure issues, and advance policy discussions affecting the region’s economic competitiveness and mobility network. In this role, Solomon also served on the GVBOT Policy Council, contributing to the organization’s broader policy agenda.

Further extending his contribution to the region’s business and trade community, Solomon is currently completing his first year of service on the World Trade Centre Vancouver Advisory Board in 2026, bringing his expertise in transportation, trade facilitation, international connectivity, and strategic infrastructure planning to support the organization’s mission of strengthening global business relationships and trade opportunities.

Solomon is born and raised in Vancouver and enjoys his past life serving beer at UBC Geography where he developed his love of transportation with a B.A. He holds a Master of Science in Planning from the University of Toronto.
