Connecting Through Sport: Journey to Invictus

invictus games

The Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 presented by ATCO and BOEING will be held on the traditional territories of the Lilwat7úl (Líl̓wat), xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Games organizers are actively working with each Nation to address Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action and respect Indigenous protocols in all aspects of the Games. In a first, one artist from each nation was selected to collaborate on developing a visual identity for the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 that represents each of the nations and reflects the power of the Salish people. This is just one example of moving from Reconciliation to Reconciliaction.

From February 8 to 16, 2025, the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 will welcome wounded, injured and sick military service members and Veterans to Vancouver and Whistler. It will be the first-ever Winter Games in Invictus Games history, and over 500 competitors from 25 nations will participate in adaptive sports, including alpine skiing, skeleton, wheelchair curling, indoor rowing, sitting volleyball, swimming, wheelchair basketball, and wheelchair rugby. The Invictus Games was founded by Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, to honour and acknowledge those who serve their country and showcase the strength and resilience of currently serving members and veteran competitors.

The Greater Vancouver Board of Trade invites you to this one-year countdown event to hear the story of how the brand visual identity of the Games came to be, the active reconciliation journey with the Four Host Nations, and how the Invictus Games is harnessing the power of sport to inspire and aid recovery to support wounded, injured and sick service members and veterans.
