Fuelling B.C.'s Tech Talent Pipeline

Fuelling B.C.'s Tech Talent Pipeline: The role of universities

B.C.’s tech ecosystem is exploding, and the province is quickly becoming a major player on the world stage. But as the province continues to compete with both domestic and international markets, where will all the required tech talent come from? Companies – start-ups, scale-ups, and anchors – are all experiencing the same talent crunch. Access to talent is currently the biggest constraint facing B.C. tech companies.

According to University Canada West’s new report -  Fuelling B.C.'s Tech Talent Pipeline - tech leaders, thinkers, and founders are calling for a more coordinated approach between universities and industry in order to  prepare the tech workforce of the future. Industry is urging universities to help prepare today’s students for tomorrow’s tech realities by focusing on a number of interrelated opportunities.

Universities and industry can work together to help fill the labour gaps that will pay dividends for students, companies, and B.C. This is especially essential as the province works toward post-pandemic economic recovery and long-term growth.

Join us for a conversation with University Canada West’s Interim President, Sheldon Levy as he discusses the opportunities with leaders from B.C.’s tech ecosystem.
