Join the CYP Outreach team as they sort food at the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.
Help ensure that all food donations are sorted appropriately and shared with clients of the food bank. This event will provide our Members with the opportunity for team building and the chance to learn more about the food bank and its services in our community.
The tasks may include:
- Sorting fresh and dry food
- Checking for open packages and dents
- Checking "Best Before" and "Expiry Dates"
- Packing produce
- Sorting baby items and packing emergency bags
The Greater Vancouver Food Bank was set up as a temporary relief to the hunger crisis in 1983 and has grown significantly in the three decades since then. Today, the organization provides assistance to over 28,000 people weekly, with 25% of its clients being children and youth and 35% being seniors.
