LNG Canada represents one of the largest single energy investment initiatives in the history of British Columbia and Canada. This is a once in a generation opportunity to benefit regional, provincial, and national economies.

With the opportunity for the LNG Canada project still ahead, Andy Calitz, CEO of LNG Canada, will talk about the leadership challenges of moving a mega project forward in B.C. He will speak to the challenges that leadership must address to bring a project to a successful conclusion including, maintaining capability and continuity of a team for the 12 years it takes to get to first production, dealing with external change, and British Columbia's unique relationship with First Nations.

Following his presentation, a panel of executives will join Andy to talk about the challenges they have experienced on their own mega projects.

About the speaker:

Andy Calitz is the CEO of LNG Canada, a Shell-PetroChina-Kogas-Mitsubishi Joint Venture. Andy started his working career in the electricity business and joined Shell in 1996. He has spent more than 30 years on various energy projects.

Andy has worked in the Netherlands, Johannesburg, London, Moscow, Beijing, Tokyo, Lima and Perth, where he held a variety of roles in business development, project management and commercial aspects of the Shell business. His LNG experience includes LNG shipping and commercial and director roles on the Sakhalin and Gorgon LNG projects.

Andy was educated as an Electrical Engineer at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa, with further qualifications in Commerce, Management and Business Administration at the Harvard Business School and Universities of Witwatersrand, South Africa and Insead.
