As part of BC Mining Week 2016, the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade is pleased to welcome back Karina Briño, President and CEO of the Mining Association of BC, for her fifth annual keynote address.

Karina Briño will discuss the current state of British Columbia's mining industry and outline how mining will continue to play a leading role in society's transition to a low carbon economy.

 

About the Speaker

Karina Briño is the President and CEO of the Mining Association of British Columbia (MABC). As the preeminent voice and advocate for the mining industry in British Columbia, Ms. Briño represents the industry's interests in areas of health and safety, First Nations and community engagement, sustainability and competitiveness.

Ms. Briño assumed the role of President and CEO of the Mining Association of B.C. in August 2011, bringing with her a wealth of experience in the province's mining sector. Prior to joining MABC, Ms. Briño was B.C.'s senior mining advisor, having been appointed Assistant Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Energy and Mines, after many years of experience focusing on mineral policy and in managing regional operations for the Mining Division.

Over the course of her tenure at MABC, Ms. Briño has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Britannia Mine Museum and the Board of Directors of MOSAIC (Multi-Lingual Orientation Service Association for Immigrant Communities) and she is a former member of the Standards Council of Canada's Advisory Committee on Social Responsibility, which was established to guide the development of ISO 26000. In July 2012, she was presented a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in recognition of Ms. Briño's contributions to Canada.
