Marriott International: President and CEO, Arne Sorenson

About Arne M. Sorenson:

Arne M. Sorenson is President and Chief Executive Officer of Marriott International, Inc., a global leading lodging company with more than 4,300 lodging properties in 81 countries and territories and reported revenue of more than $14 billion in fiscal year 2014.

Previously, Mr. Sorenson was Marriott's President and Chief Operating Officer. Earlier, he served as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and President of Continental European Lodging, with responsibility for lodging operations and development in the continental European region, as well as the company's overall financial functions.

Mr. Sorenson was elected to Marriott International's board of directors in 2011. In January 2015, he was elected chair of the Brand USA board.  He also serves on the President's Export Council, the Luther College board of regents, and, in April 2015, he was elected to the board of trustees for the Brookings Institution.

Mr. Sorenson co-founded Marriott's Global Sustainability Council in 2007 and in 2008 he launched Marriott's rainforest preservation partnership with the Amazonas Sustainable Foundation in Brazil.  He is also chairman of Marriott's Global Diversity and Inclusion Council and on the Marriott board of directors' Committee for Excellence, a board subcommittee focused on diversity. Together, the Council and Committee monitor and evaluate Marriott's strategy to promote a diverse workforce, as well as ownership, customer and vendor communities around the world.  Mr. Sorenson also writes a blog as an Influencer on LinkedIn, with nearly 215,000 followers.

About Don Cleary:

Mr. Cleary was recently appointed as President of Marriott Hotels of Canada. In this role he will be responsible for the development, leadership, operation and financial management of the all hotels in Canada under all Marriott brands. He will lead the transition of the managed and franchised Delta hotels into the Marriott portfolio.

Mr. Cleary brings with him a wealth of experience, including a previous role with market responsibility for Canada. Most recently, he was Chief Operations Officer, Asia Pacific where he had operating responsibility for the region's 175 hotels and played an integral role in the development of that portfolio.

In late 2010, Mr. Cleary moved to Hong Kong for his role as the Chief Financial Officer, Asia Pacific, where he led all continent finance functions.  Prior to joining the Asia Pacific team, he held multiple leadership positions in North America including Area Vice President for the Western Region, where he was responsible for hotel operations covering mid-western states and Canada. Mr. Cleary also held multiple positions focused on Asset Management and Development including Senior Vice President, Asset Management, Vice President, International Hotel Development for Central and South America, and Assistant General Council responsible for all development-related legal activities in those regions. 

Mr. Cleary has been with Marriott International for over 25 years.
