The Greater Vancouver Board of Trade — Western Canada’s most active and engaged business association — accelerates business success by influencing policy, hosting events on current business thinking, and bringing our region’s business community together. We work with decision makers to develop Greater Vancouver as B.C.’s vibrant hub for commerce, trade, travel, and free enterprise — and we’ve been doing it for more than 136 years!

In 1987, the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade celebrated its 100th anniversary and marked the occasion with a black-tie gala dinner. It was on that night that the Council of Governors was inaugurated, and this annual celebration continues today.
Each year, Greater Vancouver Board of Trade recognizes community leadership and corporate philanthropy by presenting its annual Rix Award for Engaged Community Citizenship and Rix Award for Engaged Corporate Citizenship in memory of the late renowned philanthropist Dr. Don Rix. The immediate Past Chair of the Board of Trade is also inducted into the prestigious Council of Governors.
